Questions and answers

Do digital production systems offer the same print and finish quality as traditional offset production?

Digital printing systems are undergoing dramatic changes in relation to print quality in both black and white and colour. If the possibilities of these systems interest you, do not hesitate to contact our sales department and request a sample of digitally printed and finished books.

Finishing systems ( stitching, binding, laminating,....etc ) are the same as those in traditional production only adapted for print on demand.

We remind you that currently we quote for standard orders with black body text and full colour cover. However, if your proposed order is outside this standard, do not hesitate to contact us.

•With print on demand or POD, will costs be reduced if the number of copies of my publication is increased?

With POD, once the minimum production has been reached, the unit price of each copy remains invariable regardless of the quantity produced.

What steps do I need to take to place an order for print on demand or POD?

If you are interested in ordering one or more of your publications using POD, the first step is to contact us and establish a contract of services required which will detail the terms of our commercial agreement. You will then have access to your own private area on our website, where you can get your own online quote. You will need to include all the technical details regarding the publication to be produced, the number of copies and the address or addresses where it is to be sent.

If you accept the quote offered, it will be made into a firm production order. Publidisa will collect the publication in paper format and also in electronic format for storage on our digital file.

Print on demand or POD will take place and the publications will be delivered to the addresses previously stated.

If my publication includes parameters not included in Publidisa's quotes, can I place POD orders?

Publidisa's minimum and maximum parameters are substantial and encompass numerous format possibilities.

However, if your publication does not fit any parameters offered, consult our sales team.

Some of the pages in my publication include full colour photos or graphics, can the publication be submitted for POD?

Publidisa's standard format consists of one interior colour only, black on white.

However, depending on the individual characteristics of the publication, some full colour printing is possible.

For more information, contact our sales team.

My publication is not in electronic format, would it still be possible to have it produced using POD?

Publidisa offers its customers a scanning service for those texts which for reasons of age or particular circumstances, are not available in electronic format.

In this way, Publidisa takes care of converting your publication into electronic format so that it may be put through the processes of print on demand or creation and sale of ebooks.

This kind of undertaking does not form part of the standard conditions offered, if required consult our sales department for a tailored package.

Why is PDF the production format included as standard in the general contract conditions?

PDF format ( Portable Document Format), is the standard format used for the transmission of documents on the Internet. It can be generated from any computer platform, be it PC, MAC or SUN, making it compatible for use with production on digital printing platforms.

This format is perfectly integrated into the most widely used programmes, such as Word, Quark, Pagemaker etc. making it easy to create PDF files.

Publidisa validates PDF files which will then be ready for the production stage.

PDF is also the format used by Publidisa to create ebooks. Therefore if at any time you decide to electronically publish any publication already sent to us for print on demand, there will be no need to send the publication again.

Other formats accepted by Publidisa: PRN, EPS and PS.

•Why does all publications management take place via the Internet?

Publidisa has created an exclusive website for your personal use, so that from your office, house, holiday destination, in fact from any computer, you can access your publications. Not only that, you can also place a print on demand order and consult previous orders etc.

Due to the instantaneous nature of the Internet, you may feel as if you have your own print on demand department in the very next room!
However, if even with all these available facilities you still require additional information, our team would be happy to hear from you at info@publidisa.com or Tel: (+34) 902 405 500 / Fax: (34) 954 583 205

What can I do if I want to make a printing order and my Internet access doesn't work?

Although Publidisa's services rely on new technology for the placing of printing orders, our customers also have the option available of completing a request form and submitting it by fax.

For more information about making a request in this way, contact Publidisa's sales department.

Is the amount given by the online quote service a final price or may there be extra costs?

The quote includes the total price of the print on demand of your publication and includes distribution to the given points.

On top of the quote price, additional costs may be incurred for pre-printing if required, also each publication comes with a yearly maintenance charge of 5.41€. The maintenance charge is waived for the first year of the contract.

How will I know if my order has been processed?

Once your print on demand order has been approved by Publidisa, you will receive notification at your e-mail address.

If you want to track the progress of your order you may do so using the tracking service available on the Publisida website. For each order placed you can find out at which of the three stages it is: Reception, Production or Distribution.

How does Publidisa organise distribution to my customers?

Publidisa does not organise distribution to your customers. You are responsible for this and management can be conducted using our remote management system on the Internet.

After indicating which publications are to be produced using print on demand and the quantities required, the number of copies to be sent to each customer or distributor must be entered.

The delivery of the production is included in the online quote, taking into account the fact that the production is divided into a certain number of boxes. The number that can be delivered without additional cost appears online at the same time as the quote. The number of boxes quoted may be increased, but this carries an additional cost of 7,21 € per year for boxes to mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands, reviewed yearly. Boxes to the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Mellila are sent by parcel post, and are subject to other terms and prices. For parcels weighing less than 2 kgs there is the option of sending them recorded delivery at a cost of 2,40 €.

All this information is clearly indicated in the online quote section available.
